Volunteers
Thank you for your willingness to volunteer for Night to Shine at City Hope GR! Please see below for a list of the areas where help is needed to make this event a success.
Volunteer Areas
Buddy
Accompany and assist assigned honored guest(s) throughout the evening, providing companionship and any assistance they may need during the event. Sit with their honored guest during dinner, dance with them, and participate in activities with them. Volunteer buddies must be at least 17 years old. Please dress up as a buddy! Wear a suit, shirt and tie, prom dress, or a formal dress you have!
Registration
In this role you will welcome the volunteers and Kings and Queens, and get their lanyards for the night. (*We are asking that those involved in this team are willing to arrive at 4:30pm) You will then assist them with getting paired with a buddy. Once all guests are checked in, we will have you as a floater for the remainder of the night. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Paparazzi
In this role you will welcome the Kings and Queens by cheering them on down the red carpet. Once the red carpet entrances are completed, we will have you as a floater for the remainder of the night. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Sensory Room
Spend time with guests who may have become over-stimulated on the dance floor or in other areas of the prom. Interact with them by participating in sensory activities, singing or listening to calming music, or simply providing them with some quiet time. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Hair & Makeup
Welcome each guest to the salon station for hair and makeup. Chat with them while you pamper them and make them feel special. Experience in this department is preferred. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Shoeshine
Welcome each guest to the Shoeshine Station. Help them to find an open seat. Chat with them while you pamper them and make them feel special. Once all the shoes are shined, we will have you as a floater for the remainder of the night.You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Food Hospitality - Prom Area
Serve food in the main event space. Refill water, punch, and food as needed. Clear tables of finished dinner plates as the Kings and Queens finish their meals. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Food Hospitality - Respite Room
Serve food in the respite room. Refill water, punch, and food as needed. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Food & Beverage Prep
Work closely with the Food Hospitality teams to ensure food/water/punch etc. are ready to be filled. (*We are asking that those involved in this team are willing to arrive at 4pm) You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Karaoke
If you are outgoing and can get the crowd engaged, this is the job for you! You will help with song selection and coordinate the smooth transitions between honored guests. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Crafts & Games
Participate in different games and crafts with the Kings, Queens, and their buddies during the night. Encourage guests and maintain a fun atmosphere. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Party Bus
Assist with getting the correct number of people into the limo as they load and unload for limo rides. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Flowers
Help guests select and pin on their flowers, or place them on their wrists. Once all guests are checked in, we will have you as a floater for the remainder of the night. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Parking
Assist with helping coordinate flow of traffic and parking for volunteers & parents/caregivers. (*We are asking that those involved in this team are willing to arrive at 4pm) You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event.
Set-Up
Helping the planning committee with setting up the days leading up to NTS. This can be as involved as you would like it to be. Entails placing tables, decorating, etc.
Tear-Down
Helping with tearing down the decorations and resetting the church for Sunday services. The goal is to have this completed by 11pm the night of NTS.
Greeter & Bathroom Attendant
This dual volunteer position will start your night as a door greeter. You will hold the doors for the Kings and Queens as they enter the building; welcoming them with a smile and letting them know how happy we are to have them there! Once all Kings and Queens are checked in, your role will be to monitor the bathrooms. This includes making sure Kings and Queens go into their respective bathrooms alone, and if they do not come out in a timely manner, you and their buddy can go check on them. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon volunteer check-in to wear during the event. Volunteers and buddies will not help guests with undressing, dressing, or toileting. Parents and caregivers will be contacted for this.
Put Me Anywhere!
As the event draws closer we will be able to more clearly see where our biggest needs and gaps are. By signing up here you are willing to help fill those gaps to make sure everything is fully covered for the evening! Details about where you will be placed will be emailed the week of the event.
Coat Check
In this role, you will be responsible for checking and returning honored guests coats in an efficient and hospitable manner. You will be given a NTS t-shirt upon arrival to wear during the event.
